The castle was built in the first half The fourteenth century was built by Casimir III the Great as part of the defensive chain of "Eagles' Nests, consisting of two parts: upper and lower. The upper one, not preserved, was erected on an inaccessible rock called "Dorotka". It is the best-preserved defensive residence in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland and the only one functioning as a museum. All exhibits presented in the castle museum are the property of the Wawel Royal Castle. Unfortunately, due to the turbulent history of the castle, the historical interiors have not been preserved, and the owners' artistic collections have disappeared. The first medieval hall presents collections of Gothic sculptures, an excellent statue of an unknown saint, a carved altar section with the Nativity scene, the Krakow painting school of the 15th century is also represented here. Exhibited here include a unique epitaph picture of John of Ujazd and the headquarters of the preserved triptych depicting the history of St. Stanislaus. Another hall was dedicated to the art of the 16th century. This room, with Renaissance monuments, was dominated by three large Flemish fabrics. There is a tapestry showing Parys and Helena. An interesting collection of Italian majolica was also presented in this room. The third hall exhibits objects from the seventeenth century. In the first part of this room, attention can be paid to an interesting group of paintings of the Dutch school with an excellent portrait of an obese man. The high artistic class is also represented by a collection of richly inlaid and inlaid Italian and German sepettes. Mannerist, richly decorated German sideboard is also exhibited here. The last, fourth room presents works of art from the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. The late baroque exhibition of this room was dominated by an unusual set of fabrics. Next to the castle there is a landscape park. Nearby is a limestone rock called the Hercules Mace, Devil's Rock or Sokolica. At the foot of the hill on which the castle rises, there is a complex of five flow ponds founded in the 16th century. It is also worth mentioning that the castle was used in such films as: "Honest sins" "Stake greater than life" "Journey for one smile" "Janosik" "Ring and rose" "With fire and sword" "School of wives" "Reich" "The amazing race "" Don't lie baby "
