The reserve has a forest-landscape character. It was created on September 3, 1957 to preserve the hills with fragments of the Wiercica valley together with its sources, as well as rock forms, caves and old trees. Its area is 153.22 ha. In the reserve we can admire, among others the following attractions: - Devil's Bridges - huge outliers, - Twardowski Gate - a group of rocks with a characteristic shape, - Sources of Wiercicy (Zygmunt and Elżbieta), - system of dam ponds (including Zielony Staw), - historic Kołaczew mill from the 19th century , - bear's cave.
