It was built in the mid-fourteenth century (around 1350-1352) by King Casimir the Great of Poland. He belonged to the defense system of the western state border of the Kingdom of Poland. This castle defended against invasions from Silesia. It is part of the fortifications called the Eagles' Nests Trail. In 1625 the castle passed into the hands of the Myszkowski family of the Jastrzębiec coat of arms from nearby Mirów. During the Swedish invasion, in 1657, the Swedes under the command of General Müller severely destroyed the castle. After the Swedish wars in the 17th and 18th centuries, the castle began to fall into ruin. In the nineteenth century, a huge treasure was found in the basement of the castle. Some still believe that the treasure has not been fully discovered and the main part of it lies in the tunnel connecting Bobolice Castle with Mirów Castle. After World War II, the castle walls were partially demolished and used to build a road connecting Bobolice with Mirów. At the end of the 20th century, the Lasecki family (the current owners of the Castle) took up the challenge of saving this monument from total destruction. The official opening of the castle after twelve years of work took place on September 3, 2011 (its shape was recreated on the basis of preserved ruins, supported by the knowledge of historians and archaeologists). Interesting are the legends about the castle, here they are: - The 15th century chronicles speak about a representative of the Krez family who kidnapped and imprisoned his niece in the Bobolice castle. Apparently, she still threatens on the walls of the stronghold as a white lady. -There is also a legend about twin brothers, owners of nearby castles (in Mirów and Bobolice). According to folk tales, they dug a tunnel between the two strongholds to be able to talk to each other in isolation, without witnesses. One day they came into possession of a great treasure, which they hid in the tunnel, and guarded a hideous witch, repelling with the appearance of potential thieves. The brothers understood each other perfectly and were ready to do everything for themselves. Their friendship was put to a great test when one of them brought a beautiful woman from the war expedition. Suspecting the twin brother of having a crush on the girl, he locked her in the underground next to the treasure. One time, in the absence of a witch, who in the evening went to the Sabbath on Bald Mountain, covered a couple of lovers in the treasury. Angered, he murdered his brother and walled the girl in the castle's dungeons. To this day, it is to frighten the castle tower.
