The ruins of the castle of Krakow bishops, built in the system of the Eagles' Nests, in the village of Babice in the Lesser Poland voivodeship, in the poviat of Chrzanów. Lipowiec is a typical Gothic highland defensive castle. It is built primarily of stone, and bricks were used mainly for vaults. In the past, the facades of the upper castle were covered with plaster, which has been preserved in trace amounts. Frames of windows and doors, as well as other elements of interior decoration, have not survived to our times, which is the result of fires and devastation for years of abandonment. The most impressive and interesting part of the entire castle is a four-story tower on a circular plan, about 30 m high, which is the oldest part of the building, dating from the second half of the 13th and the beginning of the 14th century. In the first period of the history of Lipowiec it was a typical stolp, i.e. a free-standing defensive element, located near the gate, intended to strengthen its defense, as well as being the last point of resistance during the capture of the fortress.
