Tourists wanting to explore the less known corners of the Cracow-Częstochowa Upland should definitely include in their travel plans a small town located near Krzeszowice, in the picturesque Eliaszówka valley. It is Paczółtowice, which can boast of a long history and interesting monuments. Here, Jura shows its less known, but extremely attractive face. The village itself already existed in the fourteenth century, but already earlier its areas were visited by people. A large collection of Roman coins found near Paczółtowice may indicate that an important trade route once ran nearby. What can tourists see in this quiet and peaceful town? The most valuable monument of the village is a wooden church, built in the years 1518-1520. This is one of the oldest wooden temples that have survived to this day in the vicinity of Krakow. The Gothic church has a tower above the entrance, and its greatest decoration is the early Baroque helmets. The art of early Baroque can also be found inside this temple. The main altar from 1604 looks interesting. It houses a cult image of the Virgin Mary with the Child, painted in the 15th century. Another valuable monument of sacred art is the baptismal font from the 16th century and the epitaphs of stonemasons from Dębnik incorporated into the church walls. They were made in black limestone, commonly known as Dębnik marble. From Paczółtowice you can go on interesting trips to the valleys near Krakow. It is a good starting point for those who want to explore the Eliaszówka valley and Racławka valley.
